Thomas F. Brashear letters to Mary Jo Dorn Brashear, 1942-1945.

Letters from Tom Brashear to Mary Jo Dorn (also referred to as Josephine), his sweetheart and wife, of Austin, Texas. At the beginning of their courtship, Tom is an enlisted man in the Army Air Force stationed at Brooks Field near San Antonio, Texas, in 1942. Tom then goes to Officer Candidate School in Fargo, North Dakota, and achieves the rank of first lieutenant. After their marriage, Tom is stationed in Miami, Florida and Bermuda while Mary Jo and their child Barbara Ann live in Miami. Tom's letters relate his experiences in the military including daily duties as a private and as an officer, trips on leave, furloughs spent with Mary Jo, concern for family, and his desire for the war to end so he can return to civilian life.
